Il ponte Santo Spirito sulla via Traiana: aspetti tecnico-costruttivi e architettonici

The Santo Spirito bridge is one of the few infrastructures of the via Traiana still partially preserved. It is located in the territory of Montecalvo Irpino (Av) and its structures are reduced to a single pillar in opus quadratum surmounted by the opus latericium remains of the tympanum and of the western arch. The study conducted on the building aims to better understand its construction aspects, defining the building techniques, the materials, the architectural development, as well as the relationship with the territory and the layout of the Traiana itself. The analysis, in addition to describing its peculiarities, showing the structural affinities with the other structures located on the same ancient route, highlighting the typical construction characteristics of the bridges of the Trajan age.

Il ponte Santo Spirito è una delle poche infrastrutture della via Traiana ancora parzialmente conservata: situato nel territorio di Montecalvo Irpino (Av), dell’originaria costruzione rimane solo un unico pilone in opera quadrata sormontato dai resti in opera laterizia del timpano e dell’arcata occidentale. Lo studio condotto punta a meglio comprendere gli aspetti costruttivi, definendo le tecniche edilizie, i materiali adoperati, lo sviluppo architettonico, oltre che il rapporto con la morfologia del territorio e lo stesso tracciato della Traiana. L’analisi, oltre a descriverne le peculiarità, mette in luce le affinità strutturali con le altre strutture dislocate sul medesimo tracciato, evidenziando le caratteristiche costruttive tipiche dei ponti del periodo traianeo.
