RATIONALE: Optimal therapeutic asthma control may be influenced by several mechanisms. We focused on co-existing rhinitis and adherence to international guidelines (GINA) to analyze the relevance of other known worsening factors. METHODS: An observational epidemiologic survey was conducted in an ambulatory setting of general practitioners and allergy/pulmonologists in Umbria Region (Central Italy) by mean of an asthma control test (ACT) on 267 asthmatic subjects (age range: 6 to 75 years).
