Wetland geospatial data harmonization: an open catalogue for the Massaciuccoli Lake Basin

The document illustrates the harmonization workflow of wetland geospatial data, focusing on the case of the 'Massaciuccoli Lake Basin'. The importance of wetlands as biodiversity reserves, vital habitats and ecological connectors is emphasised, as well as their crucial role in providing ecosystem services. The methodology designed to spatially characterise these areas is described through a chart representing the semi-automatic workflow developed to harmonise the data. 148 datasets representing 75 environmental, geomorphological and socio-economic variables were collected from various public bodies. These data, covering five time periods from the remote past (1950-1980) to the far future 2100 (under RCP 2.6, 4.5 and 8.5), were aligned and resampled with a spatial resolution of 0.0005° (~50 m). The result is an open geospatial data catalogue, INSPIRE-compliant and accessible via online platforms, useful for ecosystem modelling and sustainable wetland management.
