Viscoelastic Evaluation of Different Knee Osteoarthritis Therapies

1995

Abstract

The study deals wiyh the viscoelastic evaluation of the efficacy of two ordinary knee osteoarthritis therapies: injection of exogenous high molecular weight hyaluronic acid, arthrocentesis and placebo. Synovial fluid befor and after treatments were extract from osteoarthritic knee joint of 60 patients and tested by rheometer. The quantified viscoelastic demonstrated the mechanical preformance of synovial fluid and the long-term efficacy of osteoarthritis therapies with hyaluronan.
