The recent reorganization works of the spaces at Villa Mirafiori assigned to the Institute for European Intellectual Lexicon and History of Ideas (ILIESI) of the National Research Council (CNR) have led to the discovery of some boxes containing part of Tullio Gregory’s papers, covering the period from the late 1940s to the early 1980s. The paper focuses on the history of the documentation and the intellectual biography of Tullio Gregory, in particular in the years preceding his appointment at the University of Rome. The contribution also aims to highlight his prominent role in expanding CNR involving the Humanities, and in the establishment of ILIESI. The scientific project of ILIESI involved collaboration and constant scholarly exchange with various intellectuals, with Tullio De Mauro standing out prominently among them.
