Nowadays, integrating complementary information from many available technolo-gies represents a question of growing interest in many applicative sectors. Particu-larly in the Cultural Heritage (CH) field, this represents a challenging issue due to the complexity of the cultural assets under study and of their contexts, as well as due to the great variety of methodologies available for the applications in this field. This paper wishes to contribute to this debate, dealing with fundamental aspects in the multi-sensor data fusion from image-based methodologies, in a particular case study where the integration will highly benefit a better understanding of the conservation state of the artwork. As a wide variety of applications, in our study heterogeneous data comes from different image-based methodologies, since different quantities constitute the indi-cators of different phenomena, such as the amount of a material or the presence of a defect. Before integrating multi-source scientific data, the approach includes a kind of post-processing in order to harmonize them. By applying a very accurate alignment, the authors accomplished the integration of 2D images and 3D models, considering the memory requirements for data storage, and the readability of the final results visualization, suitable for heritage restorers, conservators and managers.

Abstract
By applying a very accurate alignment, the authors accomplished the integration of 2D images and 3D models, considering the memory requirements for data storage, and the readability of the final results visualization, suitable for heritage restorers, conservators and managers.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
