In the paper landslides and consequences of floods along watercourses in the upper Sangone catchment has been investigated. The physical, geologic, geomorphologic and hydrological aspects of mountainous portion of the catchment have been studied. A research about historical floods was carried out in order to identify the most critical areas in the valley during exceptional rainfalls. An evaluation was accomplished of the debris volume that could be delivered in the Sangone Stream during a flood involving all the hydrografic network at the head of the valley. Using a proper software a simulation of a debris flow in the Tauneri Stream was carried out and the thickness of debris that could be removed by the flow was calculated, in order to evaluate the debris flow hazard along the stream.
