In this study we investigated the association of the R16G polymorphism of the b2AR with EH. We showed that the C825T polymorphism of GNB3 gene may influence the antihypertensive response to b-blockers. In conclusion, genetic variants in the b-adrenergic system may contribute to determine the antihypertensive response to b-blockade, and possibly, to the initiation and maintenance of EH. Our data suggest that context—in our case gender—may play a major role: genetic and environmental contexts should be taken into account in the analysis of the multifactorial etiology of hypertension and in the response to drug treatment.

Abstract
In this study we investigated the association of the R16G polymorphism of the b2AR with EH. We showed that the C825T polymorphism of GNB3 gene may influence the antihypertensive response to b-blockers. In conclusion, genetic variants in the b-adrenergic system may contribute to determine the antihypertensive response to b-blockade, and possibly, to the initiation and maintenance of EH. Our data suggest that context—in our case gender—may play a major role: genetic and environmental contexts should be taken into account in the analysis of the multifactorial etiology of hypertension and in the response to drug treatment.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
