NIV is increasingly characterized as an essential support in the treatment of respiratory failure and its use is expanding. The availability of a wide range of fans and interfaces allows the effective application of NIV with different modalities that can be managed in a very flexible manner in multiple pathological conditions. NIV appears to be free from serious complications or adverse reactions. Key factors for the success of NIV are the careful selection of patients and the presence of well-defined application protocols. Improving the health-related quality of life is an important goal in the management of patients with chronic respiratory failure on noninvasive home ventilation, and HRQoL measurements are important tools for quality control, therapy optimization, and prediction of results of the therapy.

Abstract
NIV is increasingly characterized as an essential support in the treatment of respiratory failure and its use is expanding. The availability of a wide range of fans and interfaces allows the effective application of NIV with different modalities that can be managed in a very flexible manner in multiple pathological conditions. NIV appears to be free from serious complications or adverse reactions. Key factors for the success of NIV are the careful selection of patients and the presence of well-defined application protocols. Improving the health-related quality of life is an important goal in the management of patients with chronic respiratory failure on noninvasive home ventilation, and HRQoL measurements are important tools for quality control, therapy optimization, and prediction of results of the therapy.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
