This article studies the dynamics of Alexander’s penetration into Persis and the story presented by the various sources. Beyond the resistance that the Persians offered to the invaders, the episode of the destruction of Persepolis remains complex to explain. The figure of Thaïs, hetaera of Alexander, plays a fundamental role in some sources. It is worth understanding her role considering the sources that talk about her.
