Abstract
This paper highlights some features of the Goethean image of Greekness. The anti-sentimental trait that emerges already in his early writings, the conception of nature and the negative element inherent in the classicist canon, the idea of health and exactness that the late Goethe opposes to the romantic representation of antiquity. In the different stages of this confrontation, essential for Goethe's self-interpretation and for the self-understanding of the Goethezeit itself, the Hellenic model supports an exercise of vigilance that is both self-formation and anthropological project.File in questo prodotto:
