The problems specific to the conservation treatment of modern and contemporary paintings from the late eighteenth to twentieth century have received limited study. The relining of many of these paints can catalyze degradation phenomena not yet foreseen. For this reason, we will focus on two case studies. The first will address two paintings by Edvard Munch, Anxiety (1894) and Vampire (1895). The second case study includes a prominent artist from the Futurism movement in Italy, Gerardo Dottori. In the case studies, we will focus on the relevance of molecular luminescence techniques to the characterization of organic and inorganic pigments.

Abstract
The problems specific to the conservation treatment of modern and contemporary paintings from the late eighteenth to twentieth century have received limited study. The relining of many of these paints can catalyze degradation phenomena not yet foreseen. For this reason, we will focus on two case studies. The first will address two paintings by Edvard Munch, Anxiety (1894) and Vampire (1895). The second case study includes a prominent artist from the Futurism movement in Italy, Gerardo Dottori. In the case studies, we will focus on the relevance of molecular luminescence techniques to the characterization of organic and inorganic pigments.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
