Cast Aquivion® Polymer Electrolyte Membranes containing Ce-based scavengers were prepared and characterised in order to investigate the degradation mitigating effect of a self-made scavenger within short-side chain perfluorosolphonic membranes for applications in PEMFCs. A casting method was standardised and the chemical-physical and electrochemical properties of the developed membranes were investigated to evaluate the improvement obtained in terms of power density supplied and peroxidic degradation reduction comparing to a pilot scale membrane used as a reference.

Abstract

Cast Aquivion® Polymer Electrolyte Membranes containing Ce-based scavengers were prepared and characterised in order to investigate the degradation mitigating effect of a self-made scavenger within short-side chain perfluorosolphonic membranes for applications in PEMFCs. A casting method was standardised and the chemical-physical and electrochemical properties of the developed membranes were investigated to evaluate the improvement obtained in terms of power density supplied and peroxidic degradation reduction comparing to a pilot scale membrane used as a reference.
