La influencia del derecho italiano en el Código Civil de Puerto Rico de 2020

This article analyzes the influence of the Italian legal model (doctrinal and legislative) on the Civil Code of Puerto Rico of 2020. Although it is a legal system that has not traditionally had a direct relationship with Puerto Rican law, Italian law is one of the foreign sources most frequently cited by the Revision Commission in the Explanatory Memoranda of the Drafts of the new Civil Code. Hence the interest and the need to know not only the scope of this influence, but also its meaning, in order to contribute to the interpretation and application of the provisions of the Civil Code of 2020 that recognize its mediate or immediate source in Italian law.
