This work presents an overview on photocatalytic membrane reactors (PCMRs) technology with a focus on mass transport phenomena of the main membrane operations involved in PCMRs. Moreover, the key parameters that affect the process and the cooperative role of the membrane and the catalyst in the PCMR, were also deeply discussed. Several case studies of PCMRs applied in wastewater treatment by advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) and fine chemical synthesis. were presented highlighting advantages and still existing imitations of these interesting integrated membrane operations.
