The significance of visibility analyses in archaeology has long been acknowledged, yet their integration into spatial analysis only became established with the advent of digital tools like GIS software. This evolution allowed for a formal exploration of “seeing” and “looking”. Despite the continuous enhancement of analytical capabilities, there has been a lack of comprehensive theoretical contemplation regarding the implications of this phenomenon and the methodological challenges inherent in this analysis. This study aims to address the primary issues associated with visibility analyses by reviewing various applications. It presents reflections through a case study focused on the Monte Guardia site in Arcevia, AN. The investigation seeks to uncover the “visual potential” suggested by its topographical position and proposes a quantification of this potential using diverse analytical approaches.

Abstract
The investigation seeks to uncover the “visual potential” suggested by its topographical position and proposes a quantification of this potential using diverse analytical approaches.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
