In this study a mitigation approach based on the usage of a specifically formulated detergent is reported and a straightforward method for the evaluation of microfiber reduction is demonstrated. The effect of the liquid detergent in reducing the release of microfibers from synthetic fabrics during washing tests was evaluated.
