Sistema di elezione degli organi regionali

The contribution analyses the election system of regional bodies. Starting from the constitutional and statutory framework, the Author examines the fundamental principles (five in total) of the system – laid down by Legislative Decree no. 165 of 2 July 2004 (and subsequent amendments and additions) – as well as the different regional electoral laws, having regard in particular to the amendments introduced following judgments no. 1/2014 and no. 35/2017 of the Italian Constitutional Court. Finally, the Author looks at the distinctive features of the rules governing the election procedure in Regions with special status, focusing his attention, among other things, on the norms of guarantee for linguistic minorities to which constitutional laws approving regional special statutes ensure a reinforced form of protection.
