This article, based on the unpublished papers of the Chief Public Prosecutor Francesco Saverio Borrelli, analyses the role of the Milan Prosecutor’s Office in the period 1992-1994. It shows its growing involvement in Italian political events after the outbreak of the ‘Mani pulite’ investigation. Particular attention is paid to the relations between the various members of the Milan Prosecutor’s Office, their links with the association of the judiciary, and their relations with the mass media and politicians.
