A celebrated metal bowl from Idalion (Cyprus), now preserved in the Louvre Museum and dating from between the end of the 8th and the beginning of the 7th century BCE, presents in its outermost frieze a pair of heroes fighting against wild nature. /e purpose of the present reflections is to try to reconstruct the traditions on which the depiction of the two figures on the vessel and their accentuated characterization might have depended.
