In this chapter, an example of reusing vintage seismic data derived from the Italian ViDEPI public database (http://www.videpi.com) is presented (Fig. 6.1): several old multichannel seismic reflection profiles were converted into SEG-Y format and interpreted, in order to highlight the stratigraphic and structural setting of a portion of the eastern Tyrrhenian margin. The use of modern 3D software programs allowed us to reconstruct in a 3D view the main stratigraphic units and fault planes that dissect them. The study aims to demonstrate the potentiality of vintage seismic data in regional geological studies through a workflow that minimizes both effort and cost.

Abstract
In this chapter, an example of reusing vintage seismic data derived from the Italian ViDEPI public database (http://www.videpi.com) is presented (Fig. 6.1): several old multichannel seismic reflection profiles were converted into SEG-Y format and interpreted, in order to highlight the stratigraphic and structural setting of a portion of the eastern Tyrrhenian margin. The use of modern 3D software programs allowed us to reconstruct in a 3D view the main stratigraphic units and fault planes that dissect them. The study aims to demonstrate the potentiality of vintage seismic data in regional geological studies through a workflow that minimizes both effort and cost.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
