The ongoing integration of innovative smart solutions in the agrifood sector significantly benefits productivity, sustainability, and resilience, but also raises concerns about trustworthiness. This paper provides an overview of the main challenges and barriers to trustworthiness and current strategies and cybersecurity measures to bolster trustworthiness. The paper also discusses a possible conceptual solution for the sustainable evolution of smart solutions in the agrifood sector and provides a preliminary implementation based on a digital innovation hub.
