Three strains isolated from contaminated cultures of ash, i.e. Pantoea agglomerans, Staphylococcus succinus, and Aerococcus viridans were inhibited by either ampicillin and tetracycline, but observations on chlorosis, browning and death of explants demonstrated that tetracycline had a toxic effect, while ampicillin did not induce macroscopically negative effects on the cultures.
