Le lucerne fittili

The paper is part of the extensive research work on the history and archaeology of the area of the Cathedral in Milan. Little is known ot the function and layout of the area during the Roman age, yet the artefcts suggest a long lasting attendance spanning from the late republican age to the establishment of the early christian churches. The lamps found in the excavations help in pinpointing the chronology of the stratigraphical features, as well as in retracing the activities performed in the area, and the shifts in trades and cultural traditions over the centuries.
