The body-brain system adapts to its environment under normal conditions, governed by the triadic principle of Feedback-Synchrony-Plasticity (FeeSyCy). This principle underlies the effectiveness of treatments aimed at restoring adaptive capacity in cases of impairment. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), recognized by the World Health Organization as the primary treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), exemplifies this mechanism. In clinical practice, EMDR therapists can enhance key treatment phases by selecting multisensory stimuli that evoke deep emotional responses and provide high gratification. Working memory, which has a limited capacity, plays a crucial role in EMDR by reducing the vividness of traumatic memories, facilitating emotional detachment. Within the FeeSyCy framework, personalized sensorimotor interactions align with precision medicine principles, integrating the patient's bio-psycho-social background to optimize neuromodulation-based interventions.
