L’opera di Sciascia canonica, dispersa e postuma

This article – presented at the XI Leonardo Sciascia Colloquium «Sciascia primo, ultimo e postumo» which took place online on the 19th and 20th of November 2020 – examines the way in which the canon of literary and essayistic writing by Sciascia was created, and analyses the extent to which this is mirrored in the Adelphi edition of Sciascia’s Opere, published between 2012 and 2019 in the ‘La Nave Argo’ series. It further illustrates the ways in which texts which were not brought together in one volume by the author, and those which were published posthumously (completely unpublished), are presented to the reader by the Milanese publisher. Over time an organic editorial strategy emerges, which enables the texts to be disseminated in a philologically-determined way, which, like Sciascia’s work, does not cease to surprise reader and scholars.
