The combustion properties of a syngas and a biogas have been evaluated in terms of laminar burning parameters. These were obtained by stretch analysis of high-speed shadowgraph recording of spherical expanding flames, in a high-pressure test reactor. Tests were carried out with lean-to-stoichiometric mixtures at ambient temperature, and pressures of 4 and 10 bar. The results provide the basis for the application of either gas fuel as CH4 replacement, highlighting the pros and cons of each option.
