In this chapter we will discuss the ‘tension’ between natural science- and social science-driven approaches to human migration in late prehistory by outlining the most relevant issues and trends that characterise current research on migration in prehistoric archaeology, especially as it relates to the 3rd millennium BC, which we use as our case study.
