Several magmatic-hydrothermal deposits in Northeastern Greece and W. Sardinia are highly enriched in telluride minerals. The association of hessite, stuetzite, sylvanite, petzite, goldfieldite, coloradoite, altaite, with native Tellurium indicate direct magmatic inputs to the mineralizing solutions in all the studied districts. Sulfidation states of telluride bearing ore fluids fluctuated between IS and HS conditions even within the same deposit: In the Greek deposits the tellurides are present in porphyry related base metal veins, as well as in HS and IS assemblages in the epithermal environment. In the Furtei mine, the only Te-rich Sardinian system, the tellurides are related to both HS and IS assemblages. On the basis of available data in both districts a relationship between IS state of fluids and timing of bulk ore introduction seems probable.
