The joint analysis of GIS, field investigations and historical and modern cartographic studies led to the definition of the hypothesis of the route taken by Hannibal immediately after the victory at Trasimeno to reach the Adriatic coast. Through the collaboration between the staff of the Institute of Cultural Heritage Sciences of the CNR, which claims twenty years of activity in the field of environmental geomatics, and the DeRiveAlternative A.D.S./A.P.S - Settore Ricerca Storia del Territorio, which for over 10 years has been dealing with the reconstruction of the passage of the Carthaginian army led by Hannibal Barca through the passes and valleys that fall within the territory of the Cottian Alps, field reconnaissance, analysis of sources, analysis of modern bibliography and creation of thematic layers were carried out.
