Refractory black carbon (rBC) and elemental carbon (EC) mass concentrations were compared across European field campaigns using laser-induced incandescence (SP2) and thermal–optical analysis (EUSAAR-2). While both methods quantify the same aerosol property, systematic biases led to discrepancies of up to a factor of 2, likely due to differences in particle size detection.

Abstract
Refractory black carbon (rBC) and elemental carbon (EC) mass concentrations were compared across European field campaigns using laser-induced incandescence (SP2) and thermal–optical analysis (EUSAAR-2). While both methods quantify the same aerosol property, systematic biases led to discrepancies of up to a factor of 2, likely due to differences in particle size detection.File in questo prodotto:
