This document reports about the implementation of a computer vision procedure to estimate Nephrops norvegicus burrows density by analysing Underwater Television (UWTV) surveys. This activity, developed in cooperation with the ICES WGNEPS group, aims at providing an automatic system to support (i) the detection of the N. norvegicus openings, (ii) their grouping into systems (i.e. burrows) and (iii) the count of the distinct burrows. This could represent a relevant tool to simplify and optimise the stock assessment process.
