This paper describes implementation and experimental validation of a Common Rail simulation code. The present version of code, named CORISS, simulates one injection line from the rail to the injector. Theoretical assumptions, numerical schemes and boundary conditions are reported. The model was calibrated on experimental measurements of injection line pressure and total injected quantity, performed with a four-cylinder engine. Preliminary simulations were focused on system behaviour analysis when pilot-main injection strategy is adopted. Several experimental conditions were reproduced with the code, showing the influence of the dwell angle on injection pressure and instantaneous flow rate.

Abstract
This paper describes implementation and experimental validation of a Common Rail simulation code. The present version of code, named CORISS, simulates one injection line from the rail to the injector. Theoretical assumptions, numerical schemes and boundary conditions are reported. The model was calibrated on experimental measurements of injection line pressure and total injected quantity, performed with a four-cylinder engine. Preliminary simulations were focused on system behaviour analysis when pilot-main injection strategy is adopted. Several experimental conditions were reproduced with the code, showing the influence of the dwell angle on injection pressure and instantaneous flow rate.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
