The main critical issues found in the process of massive photogrammetric acquisition in museums concern the lighting conditions of the scene. The light of the sculptural work exhibitions is mainly provided by spotlights and is designed with a scenographical function to bring out the three-dimensionality of the museum heritage. In the photogrammetric field, such lighting can lead to two types of problems: those related to shadows and those related to white balance if the subject is illuminated simultaneously by two sources at different colour temperature (for example a spotlight and a window). This contribution reports the experimentation carried out on some statues of the National Archaeological Museum of Aquileia with particular attention to the critical issues concerning lighting and proposes solutions to overcome them.
