ArtShop is a software which collects many image processing tools for artwork restoration. These tools can be used both to improve the quality of the displayed images and to make a virtual restoration of the works. Firstly, great attention must be paid to the acquisition and digital reproduction of paintings: even if a high quality scanner is used, the quality of the resulting digital images can be different from the original ones. In these cases scanner color calibration can improve the aspect of the artworks. On the other side some tools are proposed to be used as a guide to the actual restoration of the artworks (computer-guided restoration), or, to produce a virtual restored version of the works (virtual restoration).
