Based on the revision of collection material and recent field collecting, the status of the two Alpine-Apenninic species of Velia Latreille, 1804: V. gridellii Tamanini, 1947 and V. currens (Fabricius, 1794) in Switzerland is brought up to date. Velia gridellii is recorded for the first time in Switzerland, and the first record of V. currens in Switzerland was revised and confirmed after the study of the original specimen collected in 1886.
