L’istrice Hystrix cristata L. in Piemonte: sintesi delle segnalazioni note e aggiornamento della distribuzione

We updated the distribution of Hystrix cristata L., a large rodent protected by the Habitats Directive, in Piedmont with new reports. Moreover, the chronology of the first Piedmontese sightings is briefly summarized, to reconstruct the history of the expansion of the range starting from Liguria, from the first report in 2003 to early 2025.

Questa breve nota aggiorna la distribuzione di Hystrix cristata L. in Piemonte, roditore protetto dalla Direttiva Habitat, con una sintesi delle segnalazioni pregresse e molti nuovi punti di presenza confermata. Si ricapitola brevemente la cronologia degli avvistamenti piemontesi, per ricostruire la storia dell’espansione dell’areale a partire dalla Liguria, dalla prima segnalazione del 2003 a inizio 2025.
