The Orientalizing period serves as an exceptional framework for examining the archaeology of memory among the peoples of the mid-Tyrrhenian area. The extensive corpus of available archaeological evidence facilitates a systematic exploration of how collective cultural memory has been concretized, particularly through the intricate semantic system of social self-representation manifested in funerary contexts. This encompasses material forms, rituals, customs, performative practices, and the intangible heritage of ideologies and beliefs. The recent discovery of a new tumulus from the Orientalizing period in the Veii region, which, due to its chronology and the artefacts recovered, can rightfully be classified among the so-called princely tombs, provides an opportunity to reflect on this subject.

Abstract
The Orientalizing period serves as an exceptional framework for examining the archaeology of memory among the peoples of the mid-Tyrrhenian area. The extensive corpus of available archaeological evidence facilitates a systematic exploration of how collective cultural memory has been concretized, particularly through the intricate semantic system of social self-representation manifested in funerary contexts. This encompasses material forms, rituals, customs, performative practices, and the intangible heritage of ideologies and beliefs. The recent discovery of a new tumulus from the Orientalizing period in the Veii region, which, due to its chronology and the artefacts recovered, can rightfully be classified among the so-called princely tombs, provides an opportunity to reflect on this subject.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
