The essay aims to reconstruct the biographical profile of Antonio Rossaro, priest, intellectual and irredentist who lived between 1883 and 1952, and the creator of the “Bell of Fallen Maria Dolens”, one of the most representative monuments dedicated to the memory of World War I. The author describes the considerable amount of historical sources related to Rossaro’s life and work, as well as some possible researches that have not yet been addressed by the historiography dedicated to Rossaro and the contexts he experienced. The essay is enriched by a comprehensive bibliography and some archival references on the topics discussed
