The paper reports the characteristic of hardwood and softwood wood species thermally modified at three intensity with the STYL+WOOD system, a process patented by BIGonDRY s.r.l, developed and optimized in the framework of a research project with the scientific support of the BioEconomy Institute of the National Research Council of Italy. Among the results it stands out the improvement of durability from 5 to class 1 or 2 (EN 113) achieved for treated ash, poplar. Based on this results a standard production and quality control protocol was developed and adopted by the factory on voluntary base to guarantee the quality and performance results as indicated by the product sheets allowing the customers and engineers the choice and design of the best product for a given end-use.
