The pulp and paper industry has been making commercial use of membrane technology since the 1970s, and it is currently extensively utilized in numerous industries. There is a lot of untapped potential in this water-dependent industry, as its applications only make up about 6% of the global membrane market. Due to its high price and problems with fouling during application, membrane technology has seen limited adoption in the pulp and paper sector. Pressure-driven membrane processes, including microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration and reverse osmosis, are covered extensively in this chapter. They are used as a favorite choice for reclaiming water from wastewater of pulp and paper industry for re-use. Potential and practical uses of innovative membrane technologies, such as electrodialysis and membrane distillation, are also analysed and discussed.

Abstract
Potential and practical uses of innovative membrane technologies, such as electrodialysis and membrane distillation, are also analysed and discussed.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
