The contribution presents the results of the first three geophysical prospecting campaigns in the Marche region (Cathedral district) in Pesaro. The researches, supported by investigations on archive sources, also unpublished, have the objective of locating, in the urban topography, the amphitheatre of the ancient Roman colony of Pisaurum, attested in the sources, but not traceable in the city plan. The results obtained are encouraging. For the first time, they make it possible to propose a plausible location for the ancient amphitheatre.
