The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the adoption of telework, reshaping work arrangements and prompting new questions about its im- pact on employee well-being (Eurofound 2020). This study examines the relationship between telework, qualitative job insecurity (JI), and work- life balance (WLB), with a specific focus on older workers. Grounded in the Conservation of Resources Theory (Hobfoll 1989; 2011), we discuss whether qualitative JI mediates the relationship between telework and WLB, and whether this effect is moderated by job autonomy, work engagement, social support, and financial security. This paper outlines the theoretical framework necessary for developing an empirical model to test the proposed research hypotheses. We anticipate that the results will under- score the importance of supportive telework policies and age-inclusive organizational practices, with implications for fostering sustainable telework and age-friendly work environments.
