This article studies the political dynamics of the last two decades of the 5th century in Asia Minor, during the reign of Darius II. Darius is a little-known ruler, but his reign marked the accentuation of a political evolution that influenced the relations between Greeks and Persians in this historical period. Ctesias’s work is probably a witness in its own way to the history of these decades and should be taken into due consideration in this perspective.
