Per un'antologia dell'isolamento. Immagini della Sardegna nella letteratura di viaggio (XX secolo)

In the accounts of travellers who visited Sardinia over the last few centuries, the issue of isolation is present in various ways. Reports offer illustrations of the diverse meanings of the term, covering real conditions such as loneliness as well as difficulties in moving from one place to another, as well as feelings coming from the examination of the context experienced. From this point of view, these reports provide insight into a relevant variety of situations that are heterogeneous in terms of contexts, periods and representations. They are thus useful for exploring several dimensions of loneliness, not only those related to geography and communica- tion difficulties. As part of efforts to select a collection of texts and complete an anthology, this research on travel reports began with three authors who arrived to Sardinia during the 20th century under different circumstances and with various motivations. They form the focus of the present investigation.
