This paper proposes a Feedback Based Dynamic Scheduler (FBDS) to allocate the first-hop bandwidth in the IEEE 802.11e using the HCF controlled channel access. Properties of the proposed control algorithm are investigated both theoretically and using ns-2 simulations. The obtained results show that the proposed FBDS algorithm succeeds in guaranteeing delay bounds required by audio/video applications in the presence of a very broad set of traffic conditions and network loads.

Providing delay guarantees in IEEE 802.11e networks

2004

Abstract

This paper proposes a Feedback Based Dynamic Scheduler (FBDS) to allocate the first-hop bandwidth in the IEEE 802.11e using the HCF controlled channel access. Properties of the proposed control algorithm are investigated both theoretically and using ns-2 simulations. The obtained results show that the proposed FBDS algorithm succeeds in guaranteeing delay bounds required by audio/video applications in the presence of a very broad set of traffic conditions and network loads.
