This paper presents the results of archaeological mapping activities carried out by ISPC-CNR within the PNRR CHANGES project (Spoke 1, WP3) in three southern Apulian study areas. The research focuses on an abandoned Messapian and Roman settlement along the Via Appia (Masseria Vicentino, Grottaglie) and on two urban centres with complete (Lecce/ Lupiae) and partial (Ugento/Ozan/Uzentum) continuity of occupation from Antiquity to the present. By integrating archi val research, stratigraphic excavations, field surveys, and geophysical prospections, the project has produced a set of GISbased archaeological maps. These maps provide a georeferenced overview of ancient remains, ranging from Pre historic and Iron Age contexts to the Medieval period. They combine the historical reconstruction of settlement patterns, fortifications, and funerary landscapes with a practical tool for preventive archaeology, urban planning, and heritage management, supporting the design of policies and interventions aimed at the protection, monitoring, and valorisation of the archaeological heritage in both urban and territorial settings

Abstract
They combine the historical reconstruction of settlement patterns, fortifications, and funerary landscapes with a practical tool for preventive archaeology, urban planning, and heritage management, supporting the design of policies and interventions aimed at the protection, monitoring, and valorisation of the archaeological heritage in both urban and territorial settings| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
