This dataset is a collection of X-ray projection images of a tomato acquired with a cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scanner. The dataset also includes a metadata file specifying the scan geometry and relevant acquisition parameters. The sample is a small biological object for testing and benchmarking cone-beam CT reconstruction workflows.Scan SettingsThe measurements were acquired using a MILabs U-CT System cone-beam micro-CT scanner. A total of 720 X-ray projections were acquired in step-and-shoot mode over a 360-degree scan. Each projection was obtained by averaging two exposures to reduce image noise. The X-ray source voltage and tube current were set to 50 kV and 0.430 mA, respectively. The exposure time was 40 ms. An aluminium filter of 500 µm equivalent thickness was used.Data FormatThe X-ray projections are stored in `.tif` format. The projection images have already been corrected for flat-field response, dark current and bad pixels. The metadata are contained in a `.txt` file with formatting that is both human-readable and machine-readable.LicenseThis dataset is distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).Research GroupThis dataset was produced at the Imaging Laboratory Facility of the Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology (IBBC), National Research Council of Italy (CNR).http://www.ibbc.cnr.it/research-applications/imaging-lab/
