The study examines the sustainable and resilient management of coastal areas, focusing on urban waterfronts through the “Waterfront 4.0” framework, which integrates ecological and digital innovation, participatory planning, and Nature-Based Solutions (NBS). Using a multidisciplinary approach and spatial and multispectral analysis, the research investigates the evolution of the Portici waterfront and assesses the role of NBS in urban and environmental regeneration. The results show that green infrastructure, permeable surfaces, ecological corridors, and restoration measures can enhance climate resilience, support biodiversity, improve microclimatic conditions, and increase the quality of public spaces, while also strengthening the cultural and landscape identity of the coast. The study concludes that an integrated, data-driven and participatory approach can effectively combine climate adaptation, ecological regeneration, landscape enhancement, and sustainable tourism in coastal territories.
