We report the organization of a workshop that introduces high school students to crystallography through an interdisciplinary approach that connects science and law. Students explore terms that have both crystallographic and legal meanings, discuss the definition of a crystal, and investigate whether common materials such as salt, sugar, aspirin, chocolate, and glass are crystalline. A game-based activity using the Italian legal database Normattiva helps students understand legal language and the multiple meanings of scientific terms. The workshop concludes with a crossword-based assessment. Overall, the activity promotes interest in crystallography and STEM subjects while also supporting civic education by encouraging the use of reliable legal information sources.

Abstract
We report the organization of a workshop that introduces high school students to crystallography through an interdisciplinary approach that connects science and law. Students explore terms that have both crystallographic and legal meanings, discuss the definition of a crystal, and investigate whether common materials such as salt, sugar, aspirin, chocolate, and glass are crystalline. A game-based activity using the Italian legal database Normattiva helps students understand legal language and the multiple meanings of scientific terms. The workshop concludes with a crossword-based assessment. Overall, the activity promotes interest in crystallography and STEM subjects while also supporting civic education by encouraging the use of reliable legal information sources.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
